A Parent Reference Group
Family Information Event
Including ‘Sports 4 U' activities for young people.

31 August 2010 11am – 3pm at the Pontefract Hub

A lunch will be provided so please identify any support needs/ special dietary
requirements.

The café area is quite small so lunch will need to be spread over 2 hours (11.30am to 1.30pm). Please feel free to bring chairs and picnic blankets and eat lunch outside.

The proposed activities include:
• Quiet area and sensory room
• Jo Jingles
• Able2
Cheerleading coaching
• Football training
• Accessible Bikes

The event is totally free but places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. In order to book your place either:

Parent Partneship Service

Following a review of information services in Wakefield a new integrated service has been formed. This includes Wakefield Family Information Service Parent Partnership Service and the Choice Advice Service
 
 
 

Aiming High for Disabled Children
Aiming High Grants and Families Activities Scheme

Wakefield Council will be funding Aiming High Grants and a Family Activities Scheme for Parents caring for a Disabled Child. This will be administered by KIDS through Wakefield Early Support Advice Information and Liaison Service.

Aiming High Grants
Grants are available for local voluntary providers and support groups to plan and provide opportunities to give carers' breaks or to provide activities for disabled children and young people who reside in the Wakefield District.

Family Activities Scheme
Families can be offered grants to pay for an outing for all the family or to help pay for support to allow you a short break.

Funds are limited and the Aiming High Grants and Family Activities Scheme will only be available until March 2011.
